What Is Montessori?

Dr.  Maria Montessori, the founder of what is called “the Montessori Method of education,” based this approach on her scientific observations of young children’s behavior. Montessori as an education philosophy and approach is that fosters rigorous, self-motivated growth for children and adolescents in all areas of their development, with a goal of nurturing each child’s natural desire for knowledge, understanding, and respect. Dr. Montessori believes that a child learns best within a proper environment that supports and respects each individual's unique development, and that the goal of education is to  enable a child to grow up as normalization. 

The secret of good teaching is to regard the child’s intelligence as a fertile field in which seeds may be sown to grow under the heat of flaming imagination.
